Church History
My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you. (Galatians 4:19)
The vision for Christ Character Church was laid on the heart of Pastor Johnny Prados years before the faith walk began in January 1999, when several families met at the Prados home in Missouri City for bible study. This original group consisted of family members, friends and neighbors who continued their worship together on Sundays at Christ Temple Apostolic Church (the home church of Pastor Prados ). The congregation grew and could not be accommodated by a living room. CCCI was incorporated on March 2, 1999.
In May of the same year, God blessed CCCI through Mr. Samuel Sanders, a builder for a residential development, in Missouri City . Mr. Sanders allowed CCCI to utilized the clubhouse in his development for Bible Study and Prayer services. Pastor Prados then began choosing officials for the organization. Spencer Bynes, Dwayne Washington, Kelvin Foster, and Willard Laster were chosen from among those first faithful few to take on the role of deacons.
As the congregation continued to grow, it became necessary to find space to accommodate the new members who continued to join CCCI. On August 1, 1999, CCCI moved into its first building at 1931 Texas Parkway , and hence Sunday services were added. The theme for 2000 was Lord I believe; help thou my unbelief. (Mark 9:24). CCCI ministries also included Brotherhood, a Music Ministry, Vacation Bible School , a Sunday School program, called “Seeking Hour,” and an Outreach Ministry.
In early 2000, Elder Louis Bullock was named Assistant Pastor. Frederick Anderson and, later, Andrea Young were added to the Deacon Board. In July 2002, Christ Character celebrated a groundbreaking ceremony on 3.3 acres of property in Fresno , Texas with plans underway to construct a new church edifice.
Our new 6,000 sq.ft. church facility now stands at 1214 W. Sycamore Drive in Fresno , Texas where over 85 members regularly attend. Our ministries now include a Women's Auxillary, Youth Department and Youth Choir, Children's Church, and Wedding Guild.
CCCI is growing and thriving as a young church ministry. We are pressing forward to reach the goal which God has set; reaching the “Total Man.”
