Biography

Pastor Johnny Prados was born in Beaumont, Texas on September 14, 1949 to his parents, the late Joseph Junius Prados and Gennie Seales Prados. Pastor Prados spent his youth in Beaumont, Texas until his teenage years when he later moved with his mother to Compton, California in 1960.

Pastor Prados met Barbara Jean Long in the seventh grade while attending junior high school in Compton, California. Their friendship blossomed throughout their teenage years, and they were united in holy matrimony on March 24, 1968. From this union they were blessed with four beautiful daughters Shalon, Dana, LaTanya, and Jeri. Since then, they are blessed with the addition of three sons, Dwayne Washington (husband to Shalon), Michael Brackens (husband to LaTanya), and Isaac Parker (husband to Jeri). From these unions, the Prados’ are also blessed with seven grandchildren: Corey John, DeAndre, Camaury, Iris, Colbey, Marcello, Je'Dyn, and Micario.

In 1970 Pastor Prados enlisted in the United States Army where he served in Vietnam until 1972. Upon completion of his military term Pastor Prados returned to Compton, California and began working at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company.

Pastor Prados continued to work and reside in Compton, California until 1980, when the divinely orchestrated plan of the Lord relocated Pastor Prados and his family back to Texas.

After moving back to Texas, Pastor Prados began to work at Uncle Ben’s Rice Company in Houston where he met Louis Carl Bullock Jr. It was Elder Bullock who later shared the plan of salvation with him; and in 1982 Pastor Prados was baptized in the name of Jesus and filled with the Holy Ghost at Christ Temple Apostolic Church (CTAC). Pastor Prados served faithfully under the leadership of the late District Elder A.J. Patterson and Suffragan Bishop David Allen Sr.

Pastor Prados served in numerous positions in his walk with God. Pastor Prados served as a member of the Mass Choir, the Brotherhood Ministry, the Prison Ministry, the Altarworkers Ministry, the Administrator of the Youth Department, and the Director of the Pastor’s Aid Committee.

Pastor Prados continued to walk in holiness and served the Lord diligently when the Lord called him into the ministry in 1985. He served as an active member of CTAC and in 1986 was appointed as Deacon and also called to be the Armourbearer to Suffragan Bishop David Allen Sr.

At CTAC Pastor Prados received the training needed to become an effective leader and Pastor while serving under the tutelage of such prolific leaders as Suffragan Bishop David Allen Sr. and the late District Elder A.J. Patterson.
